Nottingham Forest are set to sack Steve Cooper.

Despite securing a new contract last season, the 44-year-old is reportedly on the brink of losing his position. Recent reports, including one from The Times, indicate that former Wolves and Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo is the frontrunner to assume control. Regardless of Cooper’s fate, the Welshman, who successfully guided the team back to the Premier League 18 months ago, will be remembered as a club legend.

The scrutiny on the Pontypridd-born coach stems from Forest’s disappointing performance in the league. With just three victories in their initial 17 Premier League matches, Forest currently hover just above the relegation zone, holding a slim four-point lead over 18th-placed Luton Town.

As for Espirito Santo, the Portuguese manager has been without a job since his dismissal from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad in early November. However, if these reports are accurate, the 49-year-old may make a swift return to the Premier League.
