During a conference call on Tuesday afternoon, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided an update on the team’s injuries. Christian McCaffrey is dealing with a calf strain and will be held out of practice this week, but Shanahan expects him to return to practice next week. Meanwhile, team captains George Kittle and Arik Armstead are set to resume practice this week. Kittle’s back spasms have improved significantly, and Armstead is described as “looking good.” Although the specific details of Armstead’s injury, previously referred to as either a knee or a foot issue by Shanahan, were not disclosed, the coach did not confirm whether it was plantar fasciitis when directly asked.
