Forney High School linebacker Kelvion Riggins officially committed to the Texas A&M Aggies on Friday afternoon. Riggins had been leaning towards this decision prior to the announcement, and the combination of in-state appeal and a persistent pitch from Texas A&M ultimately secured his commitment. While many believed Riggins was torn between Tennessee and Texas A&M, his two trips to Knoxville in 2022, one for a summer camp and the other to witness Tennessee’s historic win over the Alabama Crimson Tide, fueled speculation. Despite Riggins’ familiarity with Texas A&M’s campus, concerns arose due to a recent coaching change. Nevertheless, the new head coach, Mike Elko, successfully closed the deal on recruiting Riggins for the in-state team.
On the other hand, the Tennessee Vols secured Brentwood Academy quarterback George MacIntyre on Monday morning, a key addition to their 2025 class. The coaching staff at Tennessee is optimistic about building a strong class around MacIntyre, aiming to strengthen both offensive and defensive aspects. With three defensive commitments in the secondary, featuring a trio of corners from Milton High School, the focus is now on adding more players, especially in the linebacker position. Linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary has been effective in shaping his unit since arriving at Rocky Top and is actively seeking to incorporate more athletic and aggressive football players. One player to watch in the future is Jaedon Harmon, a linebacker from Rome High School.
