Kurtis Rourke had anticipated gearing up for the 2024 NFL Draft after his successful senior year at Ohio. Following a standout 2022 season where he earned recognition as the MAC Offensive Player of the Year, he was eager to enter the draft. However, injuries intervened, with a torn ACL in the final regular-season game of 2022 and another injury in the 2023 season opener derailing his plans. Despite considering leaving college after five years, Rourke felt he had more to prove, both to himself and for his NFL aspirations. This led him to explore the transfer portal, ultimately landing him in Bloomington, Indiana, attracted by the coaching staff, particularly quarterbacks coach Tino Sunseri, and the opportunity to develop in an NFL-style offense.

Rourke’s decision to join Indiana was influenced by the chance to work with Sunseri and play in a system that aligned with his skills. He arrived on campus in January and is already building connections with his new teammates. Despite the challenges of transitioning to the Big Ten, Rourke’s extensive experience should aid his adjustment. His health remains a concern, but if he can demonstrate his recovery and return to his previous form, Indiana’s offense could thrive.

Indiana sees Rourke as a chance for a fresh start at the quarterback position, hoping his arrival will bring stability to the team. In turn, Rourke acknowledges the opportunity Indiana provides him and approaches each play with gratitude, mindful of the unpredictability of his football journey.
