According to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Saturday, Justise Winslow, a free agent forward, has agreed to a 10-day contract with the Toronto Raptors. Winslow’s most recent NBA stint was with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he played 40 games over the past two seasons after being traded from the LA Clippers in exchange for Norman Powell and Robert Covington.

Originally drafted as the 10th overall pick by the Miami Heat in 2015, Winslow hasn’t quite fulfilled the expectations set for him as a lottery selection but has served as a dependable rotation player for competitive teams. His standout season occurred in 2018-19 with the Miami Heat, during which he started 52 of 66 games, averaging a career-best 12.6 points, along with 5.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in approximately 29.7 minutes per contest. Although injuries have hindered his progress since then, Winslow has demonstrated glimpses of his potential in recent seasons. This opportunity with the Raptors may provide Winslow with a chance to secure a more permanent position in the NBA, as this 10-day contract offers him the platform to showcase his skills. Given the Raptors’ position well outside of playoff contention, evaluating a player like Winslow, who has experience with their G-League affiliate, presents minimal risk.
