The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a minor league contract with Drew Pomeranz, a former All-Star left-handed pitcher from the San Diego Padres, according to Alex Freedman, the Broadcaster and Communications Director of Triple-A OKC Baseball.

Pomeranz, aged 35, initially joined the Los Angeles Angels on a minor league contract during spring training but was released prior to the start of the season. The Dodgers swiftly moved to sign him and have now included him in their minor league lineup.

During spring training, Pomeranz appeared in nine games, allowing five earned runs over eight innings, resulting in a 5.63 ERA. His last MLB stint was with the Padres in 2021.

Following a strong start to the 2021 season with a remarkable 1.75 ERA across 27 appearances, Pomeranz’s season was cut short due to surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon. This led to him missing the entirety of the 2022 and 2023 seasons as he underwent rehabilitation, including a subsequent surgery in May 2023 referred to as a “cleanup procedure” by then-Padres manager Bob Melvin.

Pomeranz regained his health in 2024 and earned a chance with the Angels. However, after failing to secure a spot on their Opening Day roster, he entered free agency before finding a new opportunity with the Dodgers.
