According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Astros may need to offer Bregman a lucrative contract worth $300 million over 10 years to prevent him from exploring free agency. Despite Houston’s desire to retain their veteran third baseman, they are unlikely to meet the financial demands expected by Bregman and his representatives.
Bregman has consistently demonstrated his value to the Astros through his reliable performance, but it remains uncertain whether the team can accommodate such a substantial contractual obligation within their payroll in the years ahead.
