Notably, transfer quarterback Cam Ward showcased his skills, completing 17 of 23 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns in the first half.

Ward’s strong performance has heightened anticipation for the team’s prospects in the upcoming fall season. Following the game, the Hurricanes received positive news as they secured a commitment from highly regarded tight end prospect Brock Schott from the class of 2025, as reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports.

On Saturday, the Miami Hurricanes landed a major commitment from tight end prospect Brock Schott, who currently attends Leo High School. The player from the class of 2025 announced his commitment on Twitter, stating, “It’s all about the U!”

Ranked as the eighth-best tight end in the class of 2025 by 247Sports, Brock Schott hails from Leo High School in Indiana, where he’ll embark on his senior season next fall. Standing at six-foot-three and weighing 215 pounds, Schott showcased his versatility on the field during his junior year, accumulating impressive stats with 35 receptions for 743 yards and six touchdowns on offense, while also making an impact on defense with 67 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, and 19 sacks.

Schott’s commitment adds to Miami’s impressive recruiting haul for the class of 2025, which includes three other four-star prospects: running back Girard Pringle Jr., tight end Luka Gilbert, and wide receiver Waden Charles, among others.

Led by transfer quarterback Cam Ward, the Miami Hurricanes are aiming to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff for the first time in their history. Ward, who arrives from Washington State, boasts an impressive track record, throwing 48 touchdowns and rushing for 13 more over two seasons with the Cougars.

Heading into the season, the Hurricanes will once again be guided by head coach Mario Cristobal. Since joining Miami in 2022, Cristobal’s tenure has been marked by mixed results. In his first season, the team finished with a 5-7 record, but showed improvement in 2024 by reaching bowl eligibility, albeit ending the season with a loss to Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl, concluding with a 7-6 record.
