The New York Mets received disappointing news on Thursday regarding their star pitcher, Brooks Raley. Raley has been performing exceptionally well as a reliever this season, not allowing a single run in eight appearances. However, he has been sidelined due to elbow inflammation, causing him to miss some games.

Initially, it seemed Raley was on track for a return to the mound soon, but unfortunately, he experienced a setback in his recovery. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed that there is no definite timeline for his return. Mendoza stated that the inflammation has subsided, and Raley is still participating in light throwing, but the process will be slower than anticipated. The team is continuing to evaluate his condition with medical experts.

Mets' Brooks Raley replaced from US WBC roster with injury

Raley, who joined the Mets in 2023, has been a valuable asset to the team. Last season, he appeared in 66 games with an ERA of 2.80 and an impressive 61-to-25 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Despite his age of 35, he has been even better this season in the few games he’s played. However, with this setback, his return will be delayed. Any elbow injury in baseball is concerning, and the news of a setback doesn’t bode well for his speedy recovery.
