The lawsuit, pertaining to this incident, alleges that Haskins was drugged and robbed by a group comprising one man and three women. It also asserts that the dump truck was speeding, operated recklessly, and breached weight limit regulations. Furthermore, it claims that the rental truck driven by Haskins had a defect which caused it to run out of gas.

Moreover, the legal action accuses the state of failing to install lower speed limit signs in a construction zone, potentially contributing to the fatal collision. ESPN reports that the Haskins family has reached “partial settlements” with the dump truck’s driver, owner, and broker.
