Florida State’s head coach, Mike Norvell, experienced his most successful recruiting weekend during the recent matchup against Miami. Over 100 prospects, including more than a dozen five-star players and numerous four-star prospects, attended the game in Tallahassee, where the Seminoles secured a 27-20 victory.

Before the weekend, the University of Florida held the nation’s third-ranked recruiting class. However, the Gators faced setbacks as they lost commitments from two highly regarded prospects over the weekend, causing them to drop to the fourth spot in the 247Sports Team Recruiting Rankings. Jamonta Waller, a four-star edge rusher, flipped to Auburn, and four-star defensive back Wardell Mack chose Texas.

As a result of these developments, Florida State now occupies the third spot in the recruiting rankings with 23 commitments. The Seminoles added another blue-chip commitment on Friday from Top247 defensive back Jamari Howard, who chose FSU over finalists such as Florida, Maryland, Michigan State, and Rutgers.

Florida State is actively pursuing the flipping of several top prospects, including five-star Ohio State wide receiver commitment Jeremiah Smith, five-star UF defensive line commitment LJ McCray, and three-star Wisconsin defensive back commitment Xavier Lucas. All three of these potential flips were present in Tallahassee for FSU’s victory over Miami.

The Seminoles’ third-ranked class includes three five-star prospects in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Notable commitments comprise five-star defensive back KJ Bolden, who chose FSU over Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, and Auburn, as well as five-star cornerback Charles Lester, who was won over FSU against competition from Colorado and others. Additionally, FSU flipped five-star 2025 defensive lineman Armondo Blount from Miami in October, and he has since reclassified to the 2024 recruiting class.

Other noteworthy commitments for FSU’s recruiting class include four-star quarterback Luke Kromenhoek, four-star tight end Landen Thomas, four-star running back Kameron Davis, four-star offensive lineman Manasse Itete, four-star wide receiver Lawayne McCoy, four-star running back Micahi Danzy, and four-star wide receiver Elijah Moore.

If Florida State secures the nation’s third recruiting class, it would mark their highest-ranked class since 2016 when Jimbo Fisher signed the second-ranked class on 247Sports.
