The Mr Binman Christmas Racing Festival December 26-29 Handicap Hurdle witnessed the victory of Shotgun Jack, trained by Pat Kelly and steered to success by jockey Philip Donovan. Despite the horse being ahead of the handicapper, Donovan played a crucial role in the win, navigating the challenging conditions expertly. Maintaining the lead throughout, Donovan strategically reserved energy for a final push, securing a seven-length victory over Happy Dreams.

Donovan praised Shotgun Jack, acknowledging the horse’s improvement over time. Regarding his own comeback from a back injury, Donovan expressed satisfaction with his swift return to form, securing his second win in just two weeks. Meanwhile, Jake Coen transitioned from Flat to National Hunt, achieving success with Petit Dejeuner in the Limerick Races On Facebook Handicap Hurdle. Coen, still active in flat racing, demonstrated seasoned skill in delivering the 20-1 chance to victory, expressing gratitude to trainer Denise Foster and Gordon Elliott’s yard for his development.

The DMC Atlantic Maiden Hurdle saw late betting movements, with Quest With Speed making a significant jump from 18-1 to 10-1 and ultimately claiming victory for Shark Hanlon and Shane Fenelon. Champagne Admiral, trained by Pat Fahy, secured a third consecutive win in the Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle. Richie Condon’s strategic moves ensured control of the race and fended off challenges in the straight.

In the Panoramic Restaurant @ Limerick Races Mares’ Handicap Hurdle, Splashing Out, ridden by Peter Smithers and trained by Eoin Griffin, emerged as a comfortable winner after a break since July. Cosmo Renfro, from the Shane Nolan stable, justified strong support in the Follow Us On Twitter @ Limerick Races Opportunity Handicap Hurdle, with jockey Kieren Buckley making a well-timed move for victory.

Ma Belle Etoile, guided by Maxine O’Sullivan, secured a confident win in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares’ Bumper for trainers John and Thomas Kiely. O’Sullivan’s experience was evident as she strategically positioned her mount before making a decisive move in the closing stages, claiming victory with ease.
