Is the conclusion of Derrick Nix’s lengthy tenure in Oxford approaching? As per reports from Auburn Undercover, a 247Sports affiliate, Nix is being seriously considered as a leading candidate to take on the role of offensive coordinator on Hugh Freeze’s Auburn coaching staff.
Nix initially joined the Ole Miss coaching staff as the running backs coach ahead of the 2008 season, marking this past season as his 15th with the team. In recent years, he transitioned to the position of wide receivers coach under Lane Kiffin. Throughout his tenure in Oxford, Nix has worked with head coaches Houston Nutt, Hugh Freeze, Matt Luke, and Lane Kiffin.
According to Phillip Duke of Auburn Undercover, there is significant speculation about Nix potentially filling the void left by Cadillac Williams at Auburn. Duke notes, “The most prominent name I’ve heard to replace Cadillac in Auburn has been Ole Miss receivers coach Derrick Nix,” highlighting that multiple reporters covering Auburn have also picked up on the same information.
