The Detroit Tigers have made a notable impact in the global baseball scene by signing several skilled players in the 2024 international signing period. Signing of Nestor Miranda

At the tender age of 17, with his 18th birthday approaching in February, Miranda has inked a significant deal with the Tigers, securing a generous $1.5 million bonus. Hailing from Bani, Dominican Republic, and mentored by Enrique Soto, Miranda exhibits great potential in his defensive prowess, batting skills, and pitch recognition. The Tigers have high expectations for his development in the Minor Leagues, foreseeing him as a future mainstay at third base while enhancing his hitting abilities through daily coaching.

Other Significant Acquisitions

The Tigers’ commitment to fostering international talent extends beyond Miranda. They have secured Venezuelan outfielder Jesus Pinto, a highly regarded prospect, with a substantial $900,000 bonus. Additionally, they’ve added Nicaraguan right-hander Branell Anderson to their roster with a $250,000 bonus. These investments, notably in Miranda and Pinto, constitute a considerable portion of the Tigers’ $6.52 million bonus pool, underscoring the organization’s dedication to developing promising players from the international scene.

Previous Investments Show Promise

Looking back at their past endeavors, the Tigers’ 2023 signings, such as catcher Enrique Jimenez, have demonstrated significant potential through their performances in the Dominican Summer League. Jimenez, an 18-year-old catcher skilled in switch-hitting, holds the 18th spot among the Tigers’ prospects, as per MLB Pipeline. The success of these investments augurs well for the team’s continuous strategy of strengthening their roster with talented young international players.
