A 6-6 standout, Jahki Howard, ranked among the top 100 players nationally and one of Auburn’s two signees in the 2024 class, returned to campus to witness the No. 16 Tigers triumph over LSU, improving their overall record to 14-2 and SEC play to 3-0. Howard, who is set to join the program in a few months, shared his excitement about the experience, finding it even more enjoyable than anticipated.

Expressing admiration for Auburn’s up-tempo style of play, Howard, a dynamic perimeter player, appreciates how the team allows players to make plays. His AAU teammate, Tahaad Pettiford, who is also committed to Auburn, gives Howard insight into the fast-paced gameplay they can expect. Howard is impressed by Pettiford’s abilities and anticipates a fun and dynamic partnership, leveraging Pettiford’s scoring prowess to create opportunities for himself.

When asked about his priorities, Howard emphasized the importance of getting stronger, improving ball handling, and adapting to the physical demands of SEC guards and forwards. Despite shooting under 30 percent from behind the arc, Howard is focused on refining his skills and contributing to Auburn’s offense.

Reflecting on his decision to choose Auburn, Howard highlighted the team’s cohesive atmosphere, likening it to a family. Impressed by the unity and beauty of the environment, he emphasized the significance of a tight-knit community, aligning with his family values.
