Fresh in the memories of Dallas Cowboys fans is the bitter disappointment of their blowout loss last Sunday, and Kyle Shanahan is not easing their pain. The Green Bay Packers asserted dominance over the Cowboys with a 48-32 victory in the Wild Card Round at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. With Green Bay leading 27-0 late in the second quarter, many viewers were left in disbelief.

Although there was still ample time left in the game, even Shanahan recognized the grim situation for the Cowboys. The San Francisco 49ers coach disclosed on Tuesday that he started preparing early to face the Packers.

Shanahan conceded that he began reconsidering his approach after the Cowboys scored a touchdown, making it 27-7 by the end of the first half. Despite the Cowboys’ attempt to rally, Green Bay extended their lead in the third quarter, leading Shanahan to feel confidently “set on one team.”

While it’s doubtful that the additional two hours of preparation provided a significant advantage to the 49ers, Shanahan’s remarks underscored the perceived ineffectiveness of the Cowboys in the loss.
