For many observers, it’s almost a certainty that Caleb Williams will be chosen by the Chicago Bears as the top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, the Washington Commanders are closely trailing the Bears in the draft order and could potentially maneuver upwards through a trade. While this remains speculative at present, the possibility of such a move is always present. Williams himself is receptive to the idea of joining the Commanders, given his roots in Washington, D.C., where he was born and raised.

In a conversation with Pete Thamel of ESPN, Williams expressed his thoughts:
“It would be an exciting prospect because of its familiarity,” he explained. “There’s a comfort in that. My routine revolves around being in the facility, on the field, or studying film. Or simply unwinding and preparing for the next day or game.

Will The Washington Commanders Sign Caleb Williams?

The Chicago Bears are keeping their plans regarding the No. 1 pick under wraps for the time being. While many speculate they may favor Williams, there’s also a possibility they’re considering Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels, both seen as comparable prospects to Williams, who has played for the Oklahoma Sooners and the USC Trojans.

What’s more certain is that the Washington Commanders could benefit from an upgrade at quarterback, making their No. 2 pick highly valuable. Even if the Bears opt for Williams, the Commanders still have Maye, Daniels, JJ McCarthy, and Michael Penix Jr. as options on their board.
