The Baltimore Ravens are actively exploring options to fill the void left by Odell Beckham’s departure. While Beckham remains unsigned, he has bid farewell to the Ravens and is poised to join a new team next season. Recently, the Ravens hosted Michael Gallup for a free agent visit and have now turned their attention to evaluating Josh Reynolds.
Reynolds, a former fourth-round pick from the 2017 NFL Draft, may not be the most high-profile free agent available, but he brings depth to a team’s passing game. During his time with the Detroit Lions last season, Reynolds amassed 40 receptions for 608 yards and five touchdowns, with a notable portion of his production occurring while Jameson Williams was suspended.
However, with Williams returning to the lineup, the Lions no longer have a requirement for Reynolds as a free agent. Despite recording 24 receptions for 354 yards and two touchdowns while on the field, Reynolds displayed promise towards the end of the season and seems to be evolving into a dependable deep threat. While not possessing an exceptional ceiling, Reynolds still possesses the speed to force defenses to respect the deep passing game.

With Beckham likely departing, the Ravens face a need to bolster their wide receiver corps. While Mark Andrews excels as a tight end and Zay Flowers showed promise in his rookie season, Rashod Bateman, a former first-round pick, has yet to consistently contribute to the passing game. Financial constraints prevent the Ravens from pursuing high-profile free agents, prompting them to seek cost-effective options to deepen their roster, with Josh Reynolds emerging as a potential solution.
Although Andrews offers vertical threat and Flowers exhibits strong route-running skills, neither excels at creating deep separation on the perimeter. While Reynolds may appear redundant alongside Nelson Agholor, deploying him similarly could enhance his effectiveness. Alternatively, the Ravens could deploy both speedy receivers to stretch defenses vertically, thereby opening up passing lanes for Flowers and Andrews.
While Reynolds may not command a hefty salary, several teams may vie for his services in free agency. Though he may not be a game-changing force on offense, the seven-year veteran provides valuable support for a young quarterback or bolsters depth in a potent passing attack.
