Ahead of the 2024 season, Ohio State has disclosed the salaries of their coaching staff, revealing that offensive coordinator Chip Kelly will receive a $2 million compensation package. According to information obtained by The Athletic through public records requests, Kelly’s salary will gradually increase over the coming years, reaching $2.1 million in 2025 and $2.2 million in 2026.

In 2024, Kelly’s $2 million salary places him as the second-highest-paid assistant at Ohio State, trailing defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who earns $2.2 million following a slight raise.

Kelly joined Ryan Day’s coaching staff after six years as the head coach at UCLA, where he earned just under $6 million annually. Before his tenure at UCLA and Ohio State, Kelly spent four seasons in the NFL, three as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and one with the San Francisco 49ers. Throughout his NFL coaching career, Kelly amassed a combined record of 28-35 and was dismissed from both positions.

Additionally, Kelly served as an ESPN studio analyst in 2017.
