Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares has firmly stated that none of the company’s brands are available for sale, despite receiving offers. He revealed that offers were made for Alfa Romeo and one of their French brands. During discussions, he mentioned that in 2021, after the merger of PSA Group with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, some executives suggested discontinuing certain brands.
Additionally, in the same year, a Western competitor expressed interest in acquiring Alfa Romeo, while in 2023, a Chinese company sought to purchase one of their French brands. Tavares declined both offers promptly, without disclosing the specific brands or the Chinese company’s name.
Tavares emphasized his resolute stance in rejecting a buyout offer for Alfa Romeo, highlighting its significance within Stellantis’ portfolio.
Furthermore, Tavares strongly denied rumors suggesting Stellantis was considering leaving Italy or dismantling Fiat. He emphasized their substantial investment plans in Italy, totaling €5 billion, which include the production of 15 new models, two platforms, and the establishment of a battery factory. Tavares dismissed these rumors as “fake news,” reaffirming Stellantis’ commitment to Italy and its automotive industry.
