CARDIFF City manager Erol Bulut has openly acknowledged his efforts to bring Cherries striker Kieffer Moore back to Cardiff this summer. The speculation surrounding Moore’s potential return to the Cardiff City Stadium persisted throughout pre-season and until the closure of the summer transfer window. Although a loan move to Cardiff’s Championship rival, Millwall, fell through on deadline day, Moore’s Premier League opportunities this season have been limited to five appearances off the bench.

Bulut, who was providing punditry for the Wales versus Turkey Euros qualifier held at Cardiff’s home ground, expressed his admiration for Moore during a Turkish broadcast on TRT Spor. In his Turkish remarks, Bulut revealed, “Kieffer Moore was a player I wanted to buy or loan at the start of the season and greatly admired. We (Turkey) need to pay special attention to the crosses. He’s tall and has very good feet.”

This isn’t the first time Bulut has spoken about Moore; he previously discussed the striker in an interview with Turkish outlet AA before the crucial Wales-Turkey match. Bulut remarked, “Their striker, Kieffer Moore, plays for Bournemouth; he is tall. He also played in Cardiff before. He scored 20 goals in one season here and was transferred to Bournemouth. He is a good striker, he is tall, he can hide the ball well. Moore played against the Croatians – he also harassed the defenders a lot.”

In the Wales versus Turkey match, Moore came off the bench as the teams played to a 1-1 draw, leaving Wales with a final opportunity to qualify for the Euros through the play-offs. The 31-year-old striker, capped 40 times by Wales, has scored 12 goals in his international career. Since joining Bournemouth in January 2022, Moore has scored eight goals in 41 appearances, contributing to the team’s promotion back to the Premier League.
